KOAG KAG has provided additional guidance on the use of ‘absolute’ claims in order to avoid being misleading. This includes claims that state ‘complete’, ‘from A to Z’, ‘all-in-one’ etc. They also provided a table with vitamins and minerals to better explain when such an absolute claim can be used.

They included the following examples:

From A to Z” – When using the claim ‘A to Z’, vitamin A and zinc must always be present.

‘Complete’ with area of application – If ‘complete’ is combined with an area of application, all vitamins and minerals with an approved health claim for that area of application (i.e. immunity) must be present in the supplement. One or more plant extracts with a health claim in that area may replace a vitamin or mineral.

‘Multi’ with area of application – When using ‘multi’ in combination with an area of application, the product must contain at least two vitamins and two minerals that are relevant to that area. In this case as well, plant extracts with a health claim may serve as a substitute.
