The Netherlands
The CGR communicated on three planned topics where updates to Dutch legislation are being proposed:
- Transparency register: Currently, transparency is based on self-regulation. A proposal to introduce a legal base for transparency in the Transparantieregister Zorg has been submitted.
- Internal transparency: Internal transparency by the means of a signature by the board of directors for financial relations between the pharmaceutical sector and health care professionals is in place. A proposal for legislation describing this extended role for the board of directors for health care organisations has been submitted.
- Sponsorship framework: A clearer legal framework for sponsorships has been proposed. Currently, the term of sponsoring is considered too broad and thereby too vague.
