In 2023, a new royal decree (19 January 2023) was issued by the Belgian government allowing the export (every shipment to another country) of medicines to be temporarily restricted. The importance of complying with the decree has been made very clear as this “export ban” is a very hot topic during health authority inspections.
The royal decree allows an export in case of unavailability to be subject to prior authorisation if it concerns essential medicines and certain conditions are met. FAMHP has published a list of medicines (which is regularly updated) subject to a compulsory application for export in the context of the export RD on their website (Link).
