Currently, numerous variations of the phrase ‘read the leaflet before use’ appear on promotional materials for health products. To improve clarity and consistency, the Dutch Knowledge and Advice Centre (KOAG KAG) now proposes a more uniform approach to disclaimers.
KOAG KAG proposes the following standard disclaimers to avoid any confusion:
- “Lees voor gebruik de bijsluiter” – for medicinal products (+ space to list contraindications)
- “Lees voor het kopen de verpakking” – for medical devices and health products or “Lees verpakking” – in case of space or time limitations
