Belgium

The Animal Health Group of pharma.be has released an updated Code of Ethics, replacing the previous 2017 version to reflect the latest European veterinary medicines legislation and current industry practices.

The revised Code strengthens the sector’s commitment to ethical conduct, transparency and responsible collaboration across the animal health community.

What’s new?

  • Updated references to the latest legislation – The Code has been aligned with the most recent Belgian and European regulatory requirements for veterinary medicines
  • A broader and clearer definition of animal healthcare professionals – The scope now better reflects the range of professionals involved in animal care, including veterinarians, veterinary nurses and other stakeholders
  • Greater focus on responsible communication and interactions – The updated Code provides stronger guidance on ethical engagement and highlights the importance of animal welfare in all interactions
  • More transparent procedures for questions and potential breaches – Revised processes aim to ensure fair, clear and consistent handling of compliance-related matters

In addition, the Code has been harmonised with the ethical frameworks of AnimalHealthEurope, HealthforAnimals and pharma.be’s Code for Human Medicines, further strengthening consistency across the sector.
