22 June 2016: D-Day, the day that all the transfers of value between the pharmaceutical industry and healthcare professionals have been published.
80 innovative pharmaceutical companies invested in 2015 a total of 138.5 Million euro in the Belgian healthcare. The investment was mainly used for the funding of scientific research and education of the Belgian healthcare community. This investment is undoubtedly one of the reasons Belgium has become number one in clinical research at European level. So in the end, the real beneficiary of this disclosure is the patient. This figure shows a clear overview of the transfers of value per category.
Thanks to Belgium’s Pact for the Future, the first steps in full transparency of the financial relationships between pharmaceutical industry and healthcare organisations and professionals have been taken. All these transfers of value are disclosed and can be consulted on www.betransparent.be.
